Online workshop on the opportunities to start and develop a researcher career

The young are the greatest potential for the future generation of researchers and scientists. What it means to be a researcher and everything this profession makes possible will be presented in the online workshop with the title: Opportunities to start and develop a career

In the beginning, dr. Štefko Miklavič, Full Professor and Vice-Rector for scientific research and development, will greet all participants, followed by dr. Stojan Sorčan from the Science Directorate of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, who will present the European Commission’s projects aimed at involving especially young people in the instruments for the development of a career in research, both in the academic as well as the non-academic world. He will highlight some cases of researchers who developed successful careers and achieved outstanding scientific results.  

The postdoctoral student from the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies of the University of Primorska, dr. Alenka Baruca Arbeiter, will present her career as a researcher, talk about why she has decided to take this career path and where are the opportunities for advancement and further research.  

The online workshop is organised as part of the annual European Researchers’ Night project which takes place on the initiative of the European Commission. In 2021 it is funded under the framework programme for research and technological development – Horizon 2020, the Marie Skłodowska-Curie programme and with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport. This year, the European Researchers’ Night 2021 (ENR2021) project will be implemented under the slogan ZnAnosT za vsE (acronym: ZATE) (engl. Science for All).
