The sheltered area of Simon’s Bay attracted wealthy Romans as early as 2,000 years ago, leading them to build a large harbor and, alongside it, a luxurious Roman seaside villa. Using five different archaeological finds (or their replicas) as examples, we will see what conclusions archaeologists can draw about life in the Roman period. What can, for example, a fragment of a glass bowl, a statuette of Victoria, a terra sigillata cup, a brick, or a stylus “tell” us? More here.
