Can You Believe Everything You Hear About China?
27. September, 2024,08:00 - 20:00

We will explore news that we often hear about China. We frequently encounter claims that can be verified with just a few clicks on a computer, then disproved, allowing us to learn what is really happening in China.
For example: People in China often eat dogs and snakes. What lies behind such a claim?
Or: Chinese people do not have access to news because they cannot use the Google browser. Which browsers do people in China use, and how much world news does a Chinese browser provide?
Workshop participants will be able to critically examine news and various claims about China themselves. Using a computer, they will search for answers to their questions with the help of our sinologist Anja Ahčin and Chinese language teacher Xu Yidan.
