SUMMARY:Critical Understanding of Media Content – Workshop for Students
DESCRIPTION:The critical media analysis workshop will offer participants knowledge for conceptual understanding of media content. Its goal is to identify points of view\, genres\, and patterns of media representation and detect propaganda\, censorship\, and bias in the news. A group of young people between the ages of 12 and 15\, we hypothesise\, show low media literacy but are more adept at using mobile digital devices and can create some media content and share it. At the same time\, they access the content uncritically and are\, therefore\, a potentially vulnerable group exposed to fake news and online abuse. The workshop will show how much they are exposed to fake news and train them to develop critical attitudes towards information and other media content. \n[The event will be held by agreement with the school. DESCRIPTION:Events organised by the Alumni Office team\, involving alumni and professors from specific faculties\, aiming to create a dynamic environment for meaningful discussions on contemporary and relevant topics\, including fake news and conspiracy theories. The six sessions will take place throughout the year\, with a moderator leading a structured discussion at each session\, after which we will open the floor for questions from the audience and further informal conversation over a reception to follow.
