SUMMARY:Critical Understanding of Media Content - Workshop for Senior Citizens
DESCRIPTION:The critical media analysis workshop will offer participants knowledge for conceptual understanding media content\, especially news. We will use the news analysis Kellner and Share model (2019). Its goal is to identify points of view\, genres\, and patterns of media representation and detect propaganda\, censorship\, and bias in the news. A group of senior citizens show low media literacy\, regularly follow traditional media\, and are not proficient in using computers and mobile digital devices; they are also a potentially vulnerable group exposed to online abuse. The workshop will show how much they are exposed to fake news\, even if they have a partially developed critical attitude towards information and other media content. \n[The event will be held by appointment. DESCRIPTION:Participants learn about critical thinking methods (from the field of media ecology) for understanding fake news production strategies. They learn to navigate among the abundance of information in the media environment and become aware of their own media self. \nParticipants learn \n1) the difference between information\, misinformation and disinformation; \n2) the effects of false information and why no one is immune to disinformation; \n3) some practical skills and information on how to identify and raise awareness of fake news in the context of a non-fake media landscape.

DESCRIPTION:The workshop is designed to provide participants with a deep understanding of critical aspects of the product design process. We foster creative thinking\, conceptualisation\, user-centred design\, and product functionality. Participants will gain practical skills in designing engineering products that are aesthetically appealing and user-friendly. Through a combination of theory and practical exercises\, participants will gain a comprehensive insight into the product design process and learn to integrate functionality with aesthetics. The workshop is designed for students from TŠC Maribor\, Slovenska Bistrica Grammar School\, ŠC Celje Secondary School for Mechanical Engineering\, Mechatronics and Media\, and Secondary School for Construction and Environmental Protection.
