DESCRIPTION:Participants will receive a short introductory lecture where they will learn the basics of using kinesiology tape\, including its purpose in the field of physiotherapy and its effects in various pathologies. This will be followed by a practical demonstration of kinesiotaping techniques and a demonstration of the correct application of kinesiology tape. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in a creative workshop where they can create their own kinesiology tape models and apply them themselves to a specific body segment. \nAt the same time\, they will become familiar with different types of walking aids and learn about their role in the patient rehabilitation process. This will be followed by a short discussion on various pathologies that often lead to the use of walking aids\, encouraging active participation by the attendees. The practical demonstration will include correct adjustment and safe walking with underarm and forearm crutches as well as a walking cane\, which participants will also be able to try themselves.

We frequently encounter claims that can be verified with just a few clicks on a computer\, then disproved\, allowing us to learn what is really happening in China. \nFor example: People in China often eat dogs and snakes. What lies behind such a claim?\nOr: Chinese people do not have access to news because they cannot use the Google browser. Which browsers do people in China use\, and how much world news does a Chinese browser provide? \nWorkshop participants will be able to critically examine news and various claims about China themselves. SUMMARY:What Do Amphibian Bellies and Human Fingerprints Have in Common?
DESCRIPTION:We will present a method for determining the identity of amphibians using photographs: based on the belly patterns of fire-bellied toads or newts\, we can recognize each individual—just as fingerprints allow us to identify every human. Sometimes this is quite easy\, as fire-bellied toads have a very distinctive pattern of black and yellow spots on their bellies; at other times it is more difficult\, and researchers need to rely on various software tools. Participants will be able to discover this themselves through the engaging game “Bela Urška.” \nWhy do we do this at all? By using marking and photo-identification\, we can estimate the population size of endangered animal groups such as amphibians. In this way\, we contribute to a better understanding of biodiversity\, especially in the case of endangered species\, since similar methods can also be used for other animal groups (e.g. beetles\, butterflies). SUMMARY:Fake News and Conspiracy Theories: How to Combat them and Protect Gender Equality?
DESCRIPTION:“Raising awareness of the interested public through presentations on fake news and conspiracy theories in the field of gender equality: Despite technological and social progress\, even in the field of gender equality\, fake news and conspiracy theories exist. Based on their characteristics\, fake news can be classified into several subgroups\, such as: false information\, which refers to inaccurate information or manipulated truth with the aim of creating sensational stories; bias\, which refers to the fact that people will prefer to share and believe fake news that is consistent with their beliefs and biases; the spread of false information through the platform\, with the help of which the information spreads faster; manipulation through which the creators of false information only want to spread it for various reasons such as political goals\, financial gain or entertainment. \nAs a well-known example\, we can take the difference in pay for the same work between men and women\, many still deny this fact and do not attach any special importance to it. In the field of science\, there is often misinformation or stereotypes about what men and women can do\, or what abilities one group and another have. Stereotypical claims are also often seen in the fields of technology\, mechanical engineering\, computer engineering and mathematics. Some misinformation often tries to relativize and minimize the magnitude of the problem of violence against women or falsely state that most allegations are false\, even though research indicates that the proportion of false allegations in cases of sexual violence is relatively low. \nWe can still find news stories and messages from celebrities stating that feminism is part of a global conspiracy to devalue traditional values and the family and place men in a subordinate position. We also witness in many cases when they use conspiracy theories to try to convince others that feminism is hostile to men and promotes the dominance of one gender over the other. That is why it is important to recognize fake news and conspiracy theories and to be able to check the source of the information\, or to find out where the information is coming from and if we have found it within a credible source that supports or refutes the stated facts. \nVarious research projects dealing with gender equality can play an important role in raising awareness. We would especially like to present the AGRIGEP project within Horizon Europe. The aim is to make the general public aware of the importance and benefits that research in the field of gender equality brings” \n

SUMMARY:Fake News and Conspiracy Theories: How to Fight Them and Protect Gender Equality?
DESCRIPTION:“Raising awareness of the interested public through presentations on fake news and conspiracy theories in the field of gender equality: Despite technological and social progress\, even in the field of gender equality\, fake news and conspiracy theories exist. Based on their characteristics\, fake news can be classified into several subgroups\, such as: false information\, which refers to inaccurate information or manipulated truth with the aim of creating sensational stories; bias\, which refers to the fact that people will prefer to share and believe fake news that is consistent with their beliefs and biases; the spread of false information through the platform\, with the help of which the information spreads faster; manipulation through which the creators of false information only want to spread it for various reasons such as political goals\, financial gain or entertainment. \nAs a well-known example\, we can take the difference in pay for the same work between men and women\, many still deny this fact and do not attach any special importance to it. In the field of science\, there is often misinformation or stereotypes about what men and women can do\, or what abilities one group and another have. Stereotypical claims are also often seen in the fields of technology\, mechanical engineering\, computer engineering and mathematics. Some misinformation often tries to relativize and minimize the magnitude of the problem of violence against women or falsely state that most allegations are false\, even though research indicates that the proportion of false allegations in cases of sexual violence is relatively low. \nWe can still find news stories and messages from celebrities stating that feminism is part of a global conspiracy to devalue traditional values and the family and place men in a subordinate position. We also witness in many cases when they use conspiracy theories to try to convince others that feminism is hostile to men and promotes the dominance of one gender over the other. That is why it is important to recognize fake news and conspiracy theories and to be able to check the source of the information\, or to find out where the information is coming from and if we have found it within a credible source that supports or refutes the stated facts. \n\nVarious research projects dealing with gender equality and equal opportunities can play an important role in raising awareness. Then\, in a relaxed debate\, we will talk about the manipulation of research data and ideas that online sources and social networks readily exploit and what the consequences can be. In online communication\, we are witnessing an increasing loss of knowledge\, an inability to think critically\, and an increasingly aggressive justification of the personal point of view as the only acceptable one. The aim of communication is no longer the progress or development of society but the assertion of one’s own opinion\, one’s validity\, the sale of a product\, whatever the price paid\, whether by the individual or by society as a whole. The panellists will share their experiences with the audience and point out what to look out for when seeking and sharing information.
