Fake News and Information Literacy

Participants become familiar with methods of critical thinking (from the field of media ecology) for understanding the strategies behind the production of fake news. They learn how to navigate the abundance of information in the media environment and raise awareness of their own media selves.
Participants learn about:
- the difference between information, misinformation, and disinformation;
- the effects of fake information and why no one is immune to disinformation;
- some practical skills and information on how to recognize fake news and raise awareness of it within the context of a credible media landscape.
