Critical Understanding of Media Content – Workshop for Senior Citizens
27. September
The critical media analysis workshop will offer participants knowledge for conceptual understanding media content, especially news. We will use the news analysis Kellner and Share model (2019). Its goal is to identify points of view, genres, and patterns of media representation and detect propaganda, censorship, and bias in the news. A group of senior citizens show low media literacy, regularly follow traditional media, and are not proficient in using computers and mobile digital devices; they are also a potentially vulnerable group exposed to online abuse. The workshop will show how much they are exposed to fake news, even if they have a partially developed critical attitude towards information and other media content.
[The event will be held by appointment. The exact date will be known later.]
